NEW MEMBER REQUIREMENTS
Welcome to the Greater Providence Board of REALTORS® (GPBOR)! We are happy you are here and look forward to being part of your journey as a REALTOR®.
All new REALTOR® members are required to complete New Member Orientation, Code of Ethics and Fair Housing Orientation classes and submit your completion certificates within the first 120 days of membership. Please note, that these classes are separate than the classes you completed as part of your pre-licensing program. Registration and program details are as follows:

Requirement #1: Register and attend the GPBOR New Member Orientation
Meet your local board, discover your benefits, and get connected with our REALTOR® community. This program is offered (6) times a year, is (2) hours long, and is available in-person and via Zoom.
2025 New Member Orientation Programs will be held on:
8/21/25 from 9:30 – 11:30am on Zoom (Click here to register)
10/7/25 from 5:30 – 7:30pm in person at our office in Cranston (Click here to register)
12/10/25 from 9:30 – 11:30am in person at our office in Cranston (Click here to register)
*NMO is open to new members of GPBOR only.

Requirement #2: Complete a course on the NAR Code of Ethics
This 3-hour course focuses on the Code of Ethics of the REALTOR® Association, which all our members pledge to subscribe to and practice on a daily basis. Complimentary and paid options to complete the course include:
- In-person and Zoom classes with the Greater Providence Board of REALTORS®

- Online with the National Association of REALTORS®. Complimentary (no CEU credits)
- Online with the Rhode Island Association of REALTORS®
- The following approved Real Estate Schools with applied classes: Keep Me Certified, McKissock, Real Estate Nexus Training Academy, RI School of Real Estate, The Training Cove, OnlineEd
Once completed, email your certificate to info@gprealtors.org. If you completed this course through GPBOR your certificate will automatically be on file. Credit will not be granted without submission by your 120-day deadline.
Requirement #3: Complete NAR Fair Housing Orientation Training
REALTORS® are required to complete 2-hours of Fair Housing / Anti-Bias Training upon joining and every three (3) years thereafter. Complimentary and paid options to complete this training include:
- In-person and Zoom classes with the Greater Providence Board of REALTORS®

If you complete some other 2-hour course with any other school, the course must meet NAR’s learning objectives and it must be completed after you became a member.
Once completed, email your certificate to info@gprealtors.org. If you completed this course through GPBOR your certificate will automatically be on file. Credit will not be granted without submission by your 120-day deadline.
Please complete all three classes and submit your completion certificates to info@gprealtors.org by your 120-day deadline. Failure to do so will result in a $75 fine and suspension of your membership.
